Who’s your daddy? And mommy? And grandma and aunt and puppy?
Isla’s favourite book, hands down, is her Little Book of Family Faces. It’s a custom-made, colourful little book featuring big pictures of Isla’s immediate family so she can familiarize herself with their faces and names.
We made our photo book using Blurb, which I’ve used to make photo books in the past. The website is simple to use and books are easy to customize, with a wide variety of templates, colours, fonts and book sizes. We published a soft cover book to save on money and the final product only cost us about $15. The end product is a beautiful and high-quality book with glossy pages.
I love watching Isla’s reaction as she turns the page to see someone she recognizes. I’d like to say that mommy and daddy get the biggest reaction, but it’s the dog, Sitka, who gets the most claps and squeals.
As she gets older she’ll be reminded of those members of our family who live out West, like her aunt, uncle and cousins in California, and her grandparents in B.C. It’s a wonderful way to keep family close, even when they live far away, and a great way to teach baby some of her first words (like “mama!”).
You can also make photo books on Shutterfly and Black’s.
